History

Kerala state in India fondly named as ‘God’s Own Country’ is home to the best coconuts on earth since many millennia, as it is obsessed in the growth and nurture of the coconut tree, the Kalpa Vriksha (tree of life), which has given it its identity, value and prosperity.

The partners come from a business family of Arikkat with industrial experience of 3 generations. The founders of Arikkat Group, Mr. A C Paul and Mr. A C John, who were brothers, started a plywood factory at Chalakudy in 1956. As an expansion of that unit, a timber mill was started at Aloor in 1970 which was converted to a Coconut Oil Mill “Arikkat Oil Industries” in 1989 which started commercial production in 1992. Subsequently Arikkat Trades & Exports was started in 2001. Mr. Benny J. Arikkat is the son of Mr. A. C. John and Mr. Rajesh Jose and Mr. Manish Varghese are grandsons of Mr. A. C. Paul. Hence the present partners enjoy a business background of 3 generations and a vintage of 60 years.

Proud and passionate of this unique legacy, Arikkat Oil Industries started operating in 1989 as a family owned coconut business in Kerala, India. Till then the coconut oil was produced in a traditional method exclusively in Kerala state and traded to all the other states of India. In order to overcome the limitations in shelf life, purity, natural aroma and flavour, Arikkat Oil Industries introduced advanced and latest technology in extraction and packing processes in the inception stage itself. Due to the overwhelming market response to the enhanced products, Arikkat Oil Mills introduced different edible oils to many states in India and abroad.

The state-of-the-art manufacturing unit is based at Aloor, which is 1 Km from the Irinjalakuda railway station, 3 Km from the National Highway NH47. The Cochin International Airport is only 29 Km from the plant and the nearest seaport at Cochin is only 55 km away.

Arikkat Oil Industries has a state-of-the-art coconut oil mill which is fully automated capable of manufacturing 6,000 MT of export quality premium roasted coconut oil with a shelf life of over 12 months using the most efficient procurement, production, packing and quality control systems.
